A sole is more than just a sole. It’s the most complex part of the whole bootmaking process. Outsole, cushioning, insole, and footbed – all parts of the sole unit have to be compatible and simultaneously work in harmony with the rest of the boot. As such, we match up the sole’s functionality with the design and features of the upper. At Hanwag, we have been working with reliable partners for decades and developing new sole units together.
VIBRAM® develops and cooperates on our highly successful mountaineering and trekking soles. The Hanwag IceGrip sole has proved itself as a tried-and-tested winter classic. Since 2017, we have been working with MICHELIN® and developed the MICHELIN® V-ROUGH sole together for everyday winter use. In 2018, we launched two new proprietary technologies: Hanwag Integral Light and Hanwag TubeTec.
The Hanwag Integral Light sole provides superior cushioning with greater stability. The special tread design and Hanwag 3D PrismBase technology enable a very lightweight sole construction.
Optimal cushioning for multifunctional outdoor use. Hanwags‘ TubeTec technology, a sole construction featuring a special extra cushioning PU midsole material.
Based on MICHELIN’s tried-and-tested “Winter Compound” rubber, Hanwag and MICHELIN Technical Soles developers have successfully transferred the V-shaped tread technology to a technical footwear sole.
The right compound – for perfect performance. We equip all our mountaineering and trekking boots and shoes with the right sole unit for their area of activity and specific requirements.
