For four generations, the Gottstein family business has been processing wool in its manufactory in the heart of Tyrol, becoming one of the leading specialists in fulling, felting, and wool processing.

The felt inner lining and felt lined footbed of all our loafers are made from 100% pure new wool – naturally mulesing-free. This natural material is durable, breathable, and provides exceptional comfort you can feel with every step.

The HANWAG Yak Loafer combines two worlds: traditional shoemaking and cutting-edge material technology.

Yak Leather

Fine, breathable yak leather ensures natural wear comfort and a pleasant climate for your feet. Soft and supple, it moulds perfectly to the shape of your foot. Thanks to the unique and distinctive grain structure, each hut slipper is one of a kind. 

HANWAG only uses Gold-Standard yak leather from herds raised using sustainable livestock management in Mongolia. The hides are processed by our long-standing partner, the Josef Heinen leather factory in a sustainable, responsible and certified production process.

 

Step Zero Outsole

Every year, the abrasion of shoe soles releases large amounts of microplastic into the environment. The solution: The Step Zero outsole is made from a blend of biodegradable and renewable raw materials, such as by-products from wheat production.
