Ready for new adventures?

Give your HANWAG boots a new sole

Why should you resole your shoes?

Have your HANWAG boots already accompanied you on many adventures?
Here are two reasons to consider resoling them:

Are there cracks forming in your midsole, is it crumbling, or is the outsole coming loose?

This is due to the natural aging process of the midsole – also known as hydrolysis.

Is your tread worn down?

When the outsole pattern is almost gone, your shoes lose grip and stability – especially on rough terrain.

Have your HANWAG boots checked by us or an authorized dealer, generally – and at the latest – every six years.

How do you get your boots resoled?

Check your shoes once a year

Just like a car, your shoes need regular check-ups – after all, they’ve carried you over many kilometers. It’s best to inspect your shoes before or after the hiking season. Pay attention to the tread, midsole, and glued areas.

Send your shoes and the filled-out form to us

Once your shoes arrive, the sole is first cut off

Once your shoes arrive in Vierkirchen, our specialists carefully inspect each pair – because not every shoe requires the same treatment. Then the real craftsmanship begins in our workshop.

For resoling, the old sole is first cut off and all remnants are removed, also including the rock guard - if needed.

The new sole is attached to your shoe

Next, the entire sole structure is renewed: the rock guard is rebuilt if necessary, and the new outsole – with an integrated cushioning wedge – is glued and fitted.

Time for the finishing touch

Finally, the shoes receive a new insole, new laces, and the finishing touches.

3–4 weeks later, your shoes are as good as new

After 3–4 weeks, you’ll receive your resoled boots back, along with the invoice.

Your Benefits

Stay safe on your adventures

When the tread is worn, your sole loses grip - which can make it slippery. A new sole gives you secure footing so you can move safely.

Keep your perfect fit

Your shoes are already perfectly broken in and shaped to your feet. Resoling preserves that familiar, comfortable fit.

Save money

Resoling costs significantly less than buying new boots - while you continue to enjoy the quality you know and love.

Do something good for the environment

Resoling extends the life of your favorite shoes - a choice that also benefits nature.

HOW CAN YOU TELL IF YOUR BOOTS NEED TO BE RESOLED?

If you notice cracks in the midsole, crumbling material, or a loose outsole, it’s likely time for resoling. These issues are usually caused by the natural aging of the midsole, a process known as hydrolysis. Additionally, if the sole is worn down and the tread pattern is nearly gone, your boots may lose grip and stability. That’s a clear sign that they should be checked.

It’s best to have your boots inspected by a retailer or sent for resoling promptly, so you can stay safe and confident on your adventures. Think of it like a TÜV inspection for your car. As a general guideline, have your boots checked by us or an authorized dealer at least every six years.
